How are PN days charged when we leave early?
Hello,
Just a bit of clarification for the hours we charge teachers when teachers leave early on non-student days or minimum PD days.
When a teacher is gone during student time, (except as outlined in Article XX, 7.4), the teacher secures either a 6 hour or 3 hour substitute, and the teacher is charged for that amount of time as sick or PN.
However, if a teacher is gone when no students are present, like after school on a PD day, the teacher must put in for sick or PN for the actual number of hours the teacher is gone. This is done in hourly increments only. So, as an example, if a teacher is present all day but leaves when students leave on a minimum day/PD day, the teacher would be charged for 2 hours of sick or PN.
Please note that this explanation only applies to time taken off when no students are present.
Thanks,
Lexy
